Live Scan fingerprinting is available at certified providers across California, including our Beverly Hills and Los Angeles offices. You can also schedule a mobile Live Scan appointment at your home or workplace.
The total cost includes a \$30 rolling fee plus government fees, which vary depending on the ORI code and applicant type listed on your “Request for Live Scan Service” form. Government fees can range from $0 (with a billing number) to $15, $32, or over $100—for example, for firearm certifications or adoption. Unfortunately, many Live Scan vendors do not fully disclose these additional charges, leading to confusion. At Anshin Notary, we’re upfront and transparent. Our pricing structure matches what is listed on our official DOJ vendor profile and the California DOJ fee chart. Bring your form or provide your ORI and applicant type for an accurate quote.
No. We clearly separate our $30 rolling fee from any applicable DOJ or FBI government fees. These fees depend on your requesting agency’s arrangements with the DOJ and are required by law. We never add surprise charges or upsells.
Yes. DOJ and FBI each assess different fees depending on the type of background check. Some checks require only DOJ processing, others include FBI or additional databases like firearms or child abuse indexes. We calculate fees based on your ORI code and applicant type.
Some agencies use billing numbers, which means the applicant pays only the $30 rolling fee. These are typically nonprofit, government, or educational entities. For all other cases, your cost depends on the exact Live Scan submission requirements set by your agency.
Yes, we occasionally provide discounted rolling fees for students, seniors, and nonprofit volunteers. Reach out via our Contact page to ask about current discounts before your appointment.
Our rolling fee is $30 regardless of which office you visit. However, mobile Live Scan services may include a travel fee based on your location. Government fees remain the same statewide and are based solely on your submission details.
We accept most credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, and cash. Personal or business checks are not accepted. Per DOJ regulations, we must collect full payment at the time of service because we remit government fees on your behalf—we cannot invoice later.
Yes. We offer discounted rolling fees for schools, employers, or agencies scheduling multiple Live Scan submissions. Visit our Group Live Scan page to learn more.
The total cost is based on two components: our $30 rolling fee and the government fee(s) determined by your ORI code and applicant type. These details are listed on your request form. We recommend bringing the form for an accurate price estimate.
Both are government fees, and which ones apply is decided by your applicant type, not by us. Some agencies require a California DOJ check only. Others require DOJ and FBI, which adds the FBI's own fee on top. You cannot work this out by guessing — it is set by the applicant type and ORI code printed on your Request for Live Scan form. That is why two people can be fingerprinted on the same morning, in the same chair, and pay different totals.
Credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, a payment link we can text you, or cash. One practical note on cash: we do not always carry exact change, so bring the closest amount you can.
Yes. If you pay by card, Apple Pay or payment link, the receipt is generated automatically and reaches you within moments of the transaction — that is what most people hand to their employer or agency. If you pay cash, we write one out for you by hand. If you need it as an invoice instead, ask and you will have one.
Yes. Not every Live Scan provider will take payment from someone who is not standing in front of them. We will. Your employer can pay over the phone, or we can send a payment link to whoever is paying. The only condition is that payment is collected at the time of service.
